Comprehensive Wellness Assessment

Understanding your health starts with understanding your body. While a traditional scale can tell you how much you weigh, it can't explain what that weight is made of. An InBody Assessment provides a much more detailed picture by analyzing your body's composition - including muscle, fat, and water - giving you valuable insights that can help guide your fitness and wellness journey.

What Is an InBody Assessment?

An InBody Assessment is a non-invasive body composition analysis that measures what your body is made of. Using a technology called Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA), the device sends safe, low-level electrical currents through your body. Because muscle, fat, and water each conduct electricity differently, the scanner is able to estimate the amount and distribution of each.

The assessment is quick, painless, and typically takes less than one minute to complete. Unlike a Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation or a standard bathroom scale, an InBody Assessment provides a comprehensive breakdown of your body composition rather than a single number.

What Does an InBody Assessment Measure?

Body Weight

Your total body weight serves as a starting point, but it is only one piece of the overall picture.

Skeletal Muscle Mass

This measures the amount of muscle attached to your bones—the muscles responsible for movement, strength, and physical performance. Tracking muscle mass can be especially helpful for those focused on strength training, healthy aging, rehabilitation, or improving athletic performance.

Body Fat Percentage

Rather than simply estimating whether you are overweight based on height and weight, body fat percentage measures how much of your body is composed of fat tissue. This often provides a more meaningful indicator of body composition than weight alone.

Lean Body Mass

Lean body mass includes everything in your body except fat, such as muscles, bones, organs, and body water. Monitoring lean mass can help identify whether weight changes are coming from muscle, fat, or other tissues.

Visceral Fat Level

Visceral fat is stored around your internal organs and is different from the fat located just beneath your skin. Higher levels of visceral fat have been associated with an increased risk of certain chronic health conditions, making it an important metric to monitor over time.

Body Water Analysis

Water makes up a significant portion of the human body. The InBody Assessment measures both intracellular and extracellular water, providing insight into hydration status and overall fluid balance.

Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)

Your Basal Metabolic Rate estimates how many calories your body uses each day to perform essential functions like breathing, circulation, and cell repair while at complete rest. This information can be useful when developing nutrition and fitness plans.

Segmental Muscle Analysis

Rather than measuring the body as a whole, the InBody Assessment evaluates each arm, each leg, and your trunk separately. This helps identify muscular imbalances and areas that may benefit from additional strength training or rehabilitation.

How Accurate is an InBody Assessment?

The InBody system is widely used by fitness professionals, healthcare providers, physical therapists, sports performance facilities, and wellness clinics around the world.

While no body composition test is perfect, InBody technology is considered one of the most advanced and reliable methods available outside of clinical imaging techniques such as DEXA scans. Because it uses direct segmental analysis instead of generalized population estimates, it provides highly consistent results when testing conditions remain similar.

For the most accurate readings, it's generally recommended to:

  • Stay well hydrated.

  • Avoid eating a large meal immediately before your assessment.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise beforehand.

  • Wear lightweight clothing and remove shoes and socks.

An InBody Assessment can be valuable for many different individuals, including:

  • Anyone beginning a new fitness or weight-loss program

  • Individuals interested in improving body composition rather than simply losing weight

  • Athletes tracking muscle development and recovery

  • Adults focused on healthy aging and maintaining muscle mass

  • Individuals working with a personal trainer or nutrition coach

  • Anyone who wants a better understanding of their overall health

Using Your Results

The information provided by an InBody Assessment is most valuable when it's interpreted in context. Individual measurements don't tell the entire story - your goals, activity level, lifestyle, nutrition, and health history all play an important role.

At Beyond Fitness, Monika uses your InBody results as one piece of a personalized coaching approach. Together with your goals and fitness assessment, the results help:

  • Identify strengths

  • Highlight opportunities for improvement

  • Establish measurable benchmarks that can be tracked over time.

Whether you're looking to build strength, reduce body fat, improve your nutrition, or simply gain a clearer understanding of your body, an InBody Assessment provides a science-based starting point for your journey.
